B'laster is giving away goodie bags, filled with B'laster products, to the first 400 people that come through the gate on Sunday!
Once a year, B'laster provides students (ages 14 1/2 through their senior year of high school) an opportunity to drag race, street legal vehicles, in a safe environment!
What is bracket racing?
Bracket Racing as defined by Wikipedia…
Is a form of drag racing that allows for a handicap between predicted elapsed time of the two cars over a standard distance, usually 1/4 mile. It’s all about consistency. Therefore, there’s no need to purchase a race car for this event. All you need is a street legal vehicle and a driver’s license.
Rules for all classes
• Street legal cars only!
• No open headers!
• No slicks; tires must have DOT number!
• No roll cages, roll bars, tubs or tube chassis cars!
• Driver must have valid driver’s license or learners permit!
• What is considered a racecar is determined by SMP Management!
A learner’s permit will be accepted, but a parent or legal guardian must accompany you. One class - anything street legal can race…car, truck or motorcycle.
Instructor's Race
Get to know your instructors by talking them into joining you at the races. We even have a class for them! Besides ‘bragging rights’, winner and runner-up take home a trophy!
Calling all Alumni!
You don’t have to be in high school in order to have some fun! Parents and former students can compete in the alumni race. Same rules apply, must have a street legal vehicle. A trophy will be awarded to the winner, runner-up and semi-finalists!
There is No “I” in TEAM!
This is not a “sanctioned” school event, but we do recognize the schools in attendance. For the main event, racers are asked to declare the high school they represent. With each round win, scores one point for his/her school. The school that tallies up the most round wins are recognized on the racetrack and awarded a trophy to take back to their respective high school!
We’ve Got Spirit, Yes WE DO! We’ve Got Spirit, How ‘Bout YOU?
It doesn’t matter if there are two students or hundred students if you are cheering on your classmates, we are watching you! We will recognize the school that demonstrates the most team spirit and the best appearing school! Start working on your cheers, your decorations and your attire!
Do you have to race?
Of course not! Come hang out with your buddies and cheer on your school!
There is more to just racing at the High School Nationals. Students can participate in off track activities such as the famous Jostens Smokey Burnout contest, the Jostens car cram and Jostens ugliest working wreck!
Smokey Burnout Contest
The Smokey Burnout Contest is always one of the most popular off track activities we do each year. To participate in the smokey burnout contest, make your way up to race control (at the top of the Motz Grandstands) and be the first contestant to sign up from your school!
Moto Lenz Photos provides the winner of the Smokey Burnout Contest a poster of their car!
