Cavalcade Friday
May 16, 2008
Good morning race fans! It’s an overcast but otherwise glorious Friday morning here at Summit Motorsports Park and we’re in the final stages of track preparation for the first major three-day event with the 2nd Annual B’laster PB50 Cavalcade of Stars presented by Budweiser. We have three days of intense racing in front of us with the best of the NHRA Division 3 racers here for this great event. We expect to have records broken this weekend due to the resurfaced last half of the quarter mile. The new polymer surface promises to make an extraordinarily sticky racing surface. Make plans to spend your weekend with us to enjoy the hottest racing in the Midwest.
12:30 - The sun has made an appearance and we're seeing some blue skies. Stock, Super Stock, and Super Comp will be making qualifying passes until 4:00 when the Top Dragsters and Top Sportsman cars start qualifying. This is a great start to a great weekend.
5:00 - We're running a bit behind schedule due to the overwhelming number of cars that showed up for the Division 3 event. The Top Dragsters are in the staging lanes and the first qualifying round for the Top Alcohol crowd follows right behind them. It's a beautiful day for racing. Come on out and join us!
6:30 - We've sse some 220 mph passes in Top Dragster and 200+ mph Top Sportsman passes here in the first round of qualifying. Top Alcohol first round qualifying is in the staging lanes.
7:30 - After one round of qualifying, Bill Reichert sits atop the Top Alcohol Dragster ranks with 5.27/275.45, and Frank Manzo just set the Summit Motorsports Park track ET record with 5.573/262.54. Wow, what a run!
