Parked in a prominent location just off the staging lanes, Dave Roemer’s R&R Auto Body-backed and Jerry Bickel Race Cars-built 1968 Camaro was commanding attention at last weekend’s 15th Annual NMCA Muscle Car Mayhem at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida.
The colorful and quite capable car delivered Roemer to a best of 3.89 last year, and he was just shy of achieving that elapsed-time again last weekend, as he qualified ninth with a 3.93 in VP Racing Fuels Xtreme Pro Mod. While he exited competition in the first round with a troubled 4.52, we’re confident the Ohio-based driver — who was dialing in a new set of Penske shocks with help from Charlie Taylor, his brothers, Mike and Joe Roemer, Matt Rainey and Kyle Rapson — will hit the high 3.70s mark he’s aiming for sooner rather than later via his nitrous-gulping 864 cubic-inch Buck Racing Engines-built bullet.
Meanwhile, check out his car in Summit Motorsports Park’s booth at the Summit Racing Equipment I-X Piston Power Show, March 17-19 at the I-X Center in Cleveland and at the Summit Racing Equipment Shakedown at the Summit presented by Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels, Sept. 14-17 at Summit Motorsports Park.
