Joanne Knapp, Racing Team PR Representative for KB Racing and Summit Racing Equipment, has been named Honorary Starter for the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals, July 4-7, at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.
Knapp (shown here with Grand Marshal Don Lower) worked at Union Carbide in New York until 1994, when she and her husband, Jon, moved to North Carolina to establish their public relations company, J2 Racing. Following a year of work in the Nationwide NASCAR series, J2 Racing moved to professional level drag racing and quickly became one of the most respected PR teams in the industry. Since then, J2 Racing has represented numerous NHRA Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Motorcycle racing teams. J2 Racing went to work for KB Racing/Summit Racing in June 2009 beginning with the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals race.
“I was surprised and honored when I was asked to be the Honorary Starter for the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals in Norwalk,” said Joanne. “It’s a special race for me since it was our first with Summit Racing. I’m accustomed to working behind the scenes, so I never imagined I would be honored like this.”
