Thunder in the Streets, presented by Main Street Norwalk and sponsored by Summit Motorsports Park returns to Main Street Norwalk after a multi-year hiatus. It’s an event that kicks off the weekend for the Auto Plus Night Under Fire presented by Kelly Services.
Thunder in the Streets highlights Norwalk’s historic central business district and will feature a festival type atmosphere with lots of delicious food, shopping, activities and games and music. The fun all starts at noon, Thursday August 8 and ends at the conclusion of the concert which features “Jersey” a Bruce Springsteen Tribute Band, which starts at 7pm on the main stage.
So, exactly what is the “Thunder” in “Thunder in the Streets”? It’s nearly two-dozen professional and sportsman racers lined up along Main Street showing off their cool dragsters that they will be racing this Saturday during the Auto Plus Night Under Fire presented by Kelly Services. Bob Motz and his famous Jet Kenworth, Jill “Queen of Diamonds” Canuso, Ron Hope and “Rat Trapp”, a 48 Austin “Warlock” driven by Mickey Hale; local racers include Larry and Brian Hurst; Ron, Chas and Kyle Lang and Owen Hoover just to name a few. Come down early, bring your cameras and memory books and collect autographs and rave cards from your favorite drivers.
