Sean Dornan got the racing ‘bug’ at an early age, when a friendof his took him to a drag race. His first trip down the drag strip occurred in 1989. He became a “full time racer” the following year, never missing a Hartland Auto Parts Wednesday Night program. Often times he was one of the first racers waiting eagerly at the gate. Sean’s attendance and early arrival reputation inspired Bill Jr. to nickname him the “Religious Wednesday Night Racer”. He has raced a number of Mopars over the year and has a 70’ Hemi ‘Cuda super stock sitting in his garage, but he currently races a 68’ Camaro for Dave & Paulette Schank.
His passion for racing and automobiles inspired his career choice; however in the beginning that path was not clearly defined. He graduated from Seneca East, but acquired his automotive training from Sentienel Vocational School. While still in school he worked at the local Sunoco Station and was hired full time immediately upon graduation. He remained there until Sunoco closed the doors five years later. Next he worked for a local Napa Parts store doing car repairs. This time it was a fire that forced Dornan to find yet another job, this time working for a car dealership. His final career move was totally Sean’s decision. It was now time for Sean to fulfill his dream, owning his own business.
While still working for the dealership in 2011, Sean purchased the property and buildings he currently operates Dornan’s Sales & Service. The business officially opened on May 1, 2012, with a business plan geared towards automotive repair and service. Customizing golf carts was only intended to compliment the mechanics side. But by years end, he found that his original business model was completely opposite of what he intended.
Today, Dornan’s Sales & Services specializes in customizing golf carts. Dornan’s Sales & Service is a full service facility that also buys, sells and rents used golf carts; and will work on any make and model golf cart. Some of Dornan’s biggest clients are individuals who upgrade their golf carts for street legal use and to racers.
Dornan’s Sales & Service will be providing all the golf carts Summit Motorsports Park officials will be using during the 2014 season, especially two beautifully red, white and blue custom carts. These two carts will be the most sought out carts on the property when they are in operation, as they will be utilized by our Hospitality and Food & Beverage Departments. One of the many traditions here at Summit Motorsports Park racers come to look forward to at select event is ‘coffee and donuts’. Racers will have no problem locating these beauties or the ‘goodies’ they are carrying.
Doran’s Sales & Service are located just 30 minutes west of Summit Motorsports Park at 23 N. Main Street, Attica OH. If you are looking for parts, or wanting to rent or buy call Sean at 419-912-4028. Follow along with what Sean and is crew are doing on Facebook. (www.Facebook.com/DornanSales)
