Yesterday’s points race had everything going for it including the perfect weather. The Kids Day festivities were a great success, and saw a surprisingly large turnout, particularly when it came time for the racecar rides. That event was responsible for a sea of smiling faces on everyone from the kids, to the parents, to the drivers who volunteered their cars and their driving talents to help out. Once again we want to thank all of those drivers for making the rides possible for so many kids. On a very special note, the regular racers at Summit Motorsports Park got together yesterday and gave track crewmember Tim Garman a special award plaque. We don’t know where you’d find this kind of information, but we’re willing to bet that a group of racers getting together to honor a track crew member is at least unusual, if not unheard of. Congratulations, Tim, on a very well deserved honor from those who count the most! Here are the results of yesterday’s race. (continued)

It was an eventful day to say the least. Yesterday’s points meet almost became another marathon session with a 2:00am finish, but there were an extraordinary number of competitors to contend with through the course of the race. We finally had a beautiful day and got a whole day’s worth of drag racing completed. We weren’t the only ones feeling good about the day. We finally got to finish an entire program last Saturday night without being interrupted by rain, snow, sleet, or any other kind of inclement weather. It was good to be racing! We saw the typical amount of downtime from early season mistakes and oversights. Some of the seasoned veterans even forgot to tighten all the bolts. We gave (continued)

Last Saturday’s points race took an ominous turn when the skies clouded over, then opened up with a vengeance. After a two-hour rain delay, things got back under way. Unlike the rest of the points races this year, we did not finish up as expected or hoped, and the last of the competition saw (continued)

Kids Night Game Results
August 15 - While the largest number of racers were competing for points on Saturday, the largest collection of kids ever at a kids night were competing in their own right. First they had a collection of shows and demonstrations, then came the games, followed by Delbert's 9th birthday party. After the party came the penny pitch, where kids scrambled for pennies and looked for specially marked pennies which meant they won a mountain bike. There were trophies for all children that participated. Anyone who did not recieve a trophy can pick one up in Customer Service this Saturday.

July 2- The largest single day drag race in the world has slammed
shut. The winners were exuberant, though just a little bit exhausted
in the winner's circle as Bill Bader Jr. presented their commemorative
40th Anniversary Norwalk Trophy in the Winner's Circle. This race is
just as much a tale of survival as it is a test of skill, and all
drivers and riders responded to the call for courage with great dignity
and character.
