Track Reconstruction Project Reaches Next Phase
Crews hope to pour concrete soon.

The $1.6 million track reconstruction project by Miller Brothers Construction at Summit Motorsports Park has reached its next phase.

Crews are preparing to pour concrete by running string lines to measure a precise elevation, and when the last string line is in place, they'll wait for ideal weather conditions.

“We’re just about ready to pour concrete, but we need it to be warmer and dry to do that,” said Matt Welsh, Summit Motorsports Park project and facilities manager. “We’re hoping we’ll be able to do that by the end of next week.”

The project is scheduled to be completed in time for the 37th Annual Spring Warm-Up, April 28-29, and as part of it, the staging lanes will be new asphalt and the head of the staging lanes through 100 feet past the finish line will be concrete from barrier wall to barrier wall, with new asphalt from that point through part of the sandtrap at the the end of the track.

Summit Motorsports Park is at 1300 State Route 18, Norwalk, Ohio. For more information, visit www.summitmotorsportspark.com or call 419-668-5555.
