Jay and the Americans LIVE IN CONCERT at Summit Motorsports Park!

During the Wanda Brand AkzoNobel Blue Suede Cruise.... Saturday, July 20, 2013.

NORWALK, Ohio -- Some people savored the 1950’s and 1960’s.

Or should have!Jay and the Americans map out a musical journey to the 1960's and 1970's

Think about the automotive variety, ingenuity, colors, sounds, sweetness…

Not to mention the clothing styles, mom’s home cooking, and good old fashioned fun!

Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio longs to take you back to the times of our roots, especially since in 2013 we’re celebrating our Golden Anniversary all year!

So we invited music artists Jay and the Americans, who created some of the aura of the era, to sing the songs they recorded and made famous touring the nation!

Were you there when audiences screamed over Jay and the Americans’ performance of “Cara Mia,” one of their big hits?

According to their Website at http://www.jayandtheamericans.net/, the first hit recorded by the four boys from Brooklyn, “She Cried,” found its fame because a West Coast disc jockey played it over and over for six hours.Looks like fun!

Then the boys fought their producers and songwriters, Jerry Lieber and B, for the opportunity to record “Only in America,” which they said was “a natural” considering their name.

Their songs, “Come A Little Bit Closer,” “Let’s Lock The Door,” and “Think of The Good Times,” resulted in an invitation to perform on the Beetles’ first American tour, as well as on a gig with the Rolling Stones at Carnegie Hall.

Other hits include “Some Enchanted Evening” and “This Magic Moment.”

If the names don’t seem familiar, visit the Jukebox on the Jay and the Americans Website. You’ll be on your way to grab a chocolate malt or a rootbeer float in no time!

That’s with your favorite honey, of course!

Jay and the Americans disbanded in the 1970’s, and reunited about 30 years later through a series of twists in events.

The juicy part of that story rests on the Website, as well, along with nostalgia photos of appearances with stars such as Red Skelton, Sammy Davis Jr., and other top recording artists.

At the 12th Annual Wanda Brand AkzoNobel Blue Suede Cruise, we’ll close the Saturday evening show with Bader family signature fireworks, too. Here's a nostalgia photo of Jay and the Americans with Red Skelton

The Blue Suede Cruise July 19-21, 2013 also features unlimited quarter mile fun runs, fabulous door prizes, a car show of vehicles age 1972 and earlier, and the return of Nostalgia Drag Racing!

A Manufacturer’s Midway showcases automotive experts in their niche. Some include workshops!

With so many beautiful restoration works of art tooling to Summit Motorsports Park that weekend, a swap meet vendor just may have the original part you need for your most recent project.

Remember flag start drag racing? Wanda will be here, too!

Admission for one day costs $15, and for the weekend costs $35. Children under age 15 are admitted free!
