Since the Mickey Mart Rewards Cavalcade of Stars presented by Budweiser is part of the National Hot Rod Association Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, as well as the new NHRA Harley-Davidson Drag Racing Series, racers and fans gather from throughout the North Central Region of NHRA Division 3 for the three-day event.

The Mickey Mart gas stations and convenience stores open a friendly welcome to the grocery getter loaded with the baseball team as well as serious racers stringing win lights at the track.

With 30 Mickey Mart Food Stores and gas stations within a 90-mile radius in North Central Ohio, effectively surrounding Summit Motorsports Park, many racers and fans find a Mickey Mart along their route to the races.

The Mickey Mart Rewards Club, a loyalty program, enables customers to earn points on everyday purchases of gas or snacks at Mickey Marts. Club members redeem points on free items such as bottled water, a gas card, a lighter, a bag of chips, or a granola bar.

“It’s fast, free and easy to sign up,” said Jason Appel, vendor relations at Coles Energy Inc., Milan, Ohio, the parent company of Mickey Mart Food Stores.

“The individuals who are attending the race are the same people who shop at Mickey Marts,” Jason Appel said. “We’re 15 minutes from the track.”

In Norwalk, for example, a Mickey Mart Food Store and Marathon Station at 123 Whittlesey Ave. is on the corner of League Street.

The company chose to sponsor the Mickey Mart Rewards Cavalcade of Stars presented by Budweiser because the high-speed show fires up extra fun for families all weekend.

The NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series sets the stage with 16 260 mph Funny Cars and 16 280 mph dragsters spitting flames and cackling into the evening.

Sportsman racers, providing the most exciting mechanical pizzazz before the professional level, abound at the Mickey Mart Rewards Cavalcade of Stars.

Meanwhile, the new NHRA Harley Davidson Drag Racing Series introduces six sportsman motorcycle classes, including the nitromethane-burning, 225 mph Top Fuel and 180 mph Pro Dragster, along with Pro Gas, Draggin’ Bagger, Street Pro and Hot Street.

Special guest stars for the shows include Bob Motz and his wheel walking, 200 mph Jet KenwortTroy Stone, owner of Vintage Trailers, loves to race his Vintage dragsters.h; also Jill Canuso and the Hanna Motorsports state-of-the-art 300 mph Queen of Diamonds II Jet Dragster debuts in a race against Ernie Bogue and the Beast from the East Jet Dragster.

The shows on Friday and Saturday evenings cap with Bader family signature fireworks. You know what those are for: Sit back in your grandstand seat, pull your loved ones close and enjoy the view!

Adult tickets cost $20 for one day or $50 for the weekend. Admission for children ages six through 12 costs $5 for one day or $10 for the weekend. Children ages five and younger are admitted free. Reserved seats cost $5 extra. Summit Club seats, $10 extra.

Trackside motorhome camping is $75 for the weekend. Primitive camping, $25 for the weekend.

Gates open at 8 a.m. daily. Time trials and qualifications begin at 10 a.m. Bob Motz and his 200 mph Jet Kenworth semi truck.Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday. Eliminations begin at 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
