OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOU OUR FANS!
There is not a stick and ball sport or another form of motorsports that allows race fans the opportunity to enter the “locker room”, but at Summit Motorsports Park we do!  Each admission ticket allows race fans access into the racer’s pit area.  Fans can watch crew members’ race against the clock, servicing their vehicles before their driver’s next round of competition.  And there is always an opportunity to capture a few autographs and photographs along the way.

FAN PARTICIPATION!
Summit Motorsports Park likes to get their fans excited, but more importantly we like to get the fans involved!  Friday night qualifying will be one such opportunity.  Five fans will be randomly chosen to be part of a panel of judges.  The judges will sit next to the race track and score the racers in Stock Eliminator and Super Stock's "showtime" sponsored by Croghan Colonial bank, on their ability to perform the best wheel stand during the Friday night qualifying session.  If you want to be part of our panel of judges then you need to be here!

SPOTLIGHT ON THE REGIONAL CHAMPIONS
Brandon Booher wins his first regsional TAD Title and finishes 3rd in the National Points Brandon Booher, Regional TAD Champion, started his drag racing career in the junior dragsters ranks, and then graduated to the Super Comp Class, which lasted for a very short period of time.  By the age of 16, Brandon was given better opportunities.  His dad decided to turn over the driving duties of his blown alcohol Pro Top Outlaw dragster over to Brandon.  He had quite a bit of success in this car as he won the PTO Championship in 2007 and was the first Top Dragster to run in the 5-second zone.

In 2009, Brandon wanted a new challenge and he switched over to the ultra-competitive NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster Class. Brandon’s journeys towards his regional championship started slow, but after he clinched his first win in Chicago this year, his fire could not be put out, as he won the next two regionals, Cordova and Columbus and rounded the season with two semi-final round appearances which earned him his first Regional Championship.

Brandon saw his first National event final at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals here at Summit Motorsports Park in 2011.   But it would be another two years, before he would capture his first career national event win which was this past September at zMax Dragway in Charlotte, NC.  At that race, he also became the second-fastest blown alcohol dragster driver in NHRA history.  Now he owns the world record for quickest and fastest converter-equipped TAD.

With this National win Brandon’s fire was in full blaze, that’s when Brandon made a serious run for the National Title attending Dallas and Maple Grove, where he ended up in 3rd place just behind perennially powerhouses, Jim Whiteley and Chris Demke.

Andy Bohl, Regional TAFC Championhas been into all forms of racing, including remote control cars as a child.  He grew up at the racet
After 3 chases, Andy Bohl captures his first regional TAFC Title!rack watching his dad, Steve Bohls, compete in a Barracuda.  Like Brandon Booher, shortly after obtaining his driver’s license, Steve decided to turned over the responsibilities of racing the Barracuda over to Andy.  It wasn’t long after that he graduated onto a blown HEMI-powered Altered.  Then, like so many racers before him, Andy attended an NHRA sponsored event, and was bitten by the ‘NHRA bug’ and he wanted ‘more’

With Vern Moats as his mentor, Andy found a way to get his first Top Alcohol Funny Car together and he acquired his TAFC license in 2005.  Today, Andy is one of the few racers that continue to be both driver and crew chief, but he would not have it any other way.  He works closely with his team, which includes his father, Steve Bo
hls

Andy Bohl has been close to winning a [regional] championship twice before, but this time the sun, the moon and the stars must have been in the correct alignment for he and his race team, as they traveled to Beach Bend Raceway Park, Bowling Green KY for the last race of the North Central Division/Regional season

Andy entered the competition with two regional wins but so did his archrival Chris Foster, who had previously taken away one of those championship chances from him in 2009.  This time, the pair found themselves in a very similar situation, but this time they were in a tie for first place.  The only way this situation was going to resolve itself, one of them was going to have to win or beat the other in competition.  And that is just how it played out.  Andy and Chris met up with each other in the first round of competition.  It was Andy turn this time to seize the momentous win.  Andy goes 5.67 after Chris lost traction and slowed to a 12.87 and he captures his first Regional Win of his career.  When the dust settled the end of the day, Andy went on to beat Ray Drew in the semi-finals and then “The Ace” Frank Manzo in the final.  With this win, Andy clinched his third regional win for the season along with the Regional Title.

Andy also made a run for the National Title in TAFC and placed 10th overall in the standings.

GET TO KNOW THE DRIVERS!

You can meet the Regional Champions, other alcohol drivers and the featured talent of the event during a special autograph session which will take place each afternoon during the Cavalcade of Stars.  Many of alcohol drivers will be back in July for the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals.  Start following these drivers now and watch how their season progresses.
